Have a Swinging Spa Time on Twitter

19 Jan

After getting loads of virtual spa time a la reviewing spas and salons on Twitter, I highly recommend you do the same.  Many times people’s attitudes are why should I care if I spa is on twitter?  There are so many benefits to following spas – let me count the ways to spa via twitter:

A massage on Twitter?

Save money.  We all love a deal right?  Due to last minute cancellations, weather, etc. spas often have openings – I’ve seen tweets such as: “Call in the next half hour & get a half hour free”.  Slow day discounts are common too such as “Twitter Tuesday – all followers get 30% off services” and so on.

Book an appointment. Some spas accept appointments via twitter and perhaps, best of all, if the spa or salon you visit is constantly booked – Twitter is the ideal place to find last minute cancellations and openings.  (Facebook is also good but that’s another post for another day.)

Plan a spa vacation.  Your next vacay or girl’s weekend could be only a tweet away.  Search for resorts w/spas and destination spas in your vacation spot.  Follow them for possible discounts, travel advice and personal suggestions and ideas from the spa’s directors.

Get beauty/health advice.  Speaking of spa directors, spa staff are extremely knowledgeable regarding skincare, fitness and beauty.  They often tweet about new products, tips for an optimal life and home spa ideas.

Take a Virtual Spa Trip.  The backgrounds on some spa profiles are awe inspiring.  Check out Cliffhouse Maine and Red Mountain Spa .

With all of your followees you may wonder “How can I keep up with spas too?”  The best way is to start a list.  Click create list on the bar on the right of your profile page. It will ask you to name it, something like “spa” works.  Then click on the profiles of spas you follow.  The 1st box to the right of their avatar allows you to add the spa.

So let’s say you’re out shopping and your feet are killing you – simply bring up your “spa” list on your Blackberry or iphone.  Only tweets from the spas you follow appear – ya never know maybe that nail salon you love will have an opening ; )

Convinced?  Go follow some spa on our TwitterSpa page arranged by locale.  ISPA also has a list of their members who tweet.   Do you have some fun way you spa via twitter?  Let us know in the comments below.

Spa wishes, Candy
