Greetings from Miro the SpaCat &
Diabetes SpokesCat
*eyes blinking* ”Huh? What? Oh. . . whoops, hello everyone – I’m afraid you caught me cat napping! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Miro and I live with Mademoiselle (who we all know is pushing Madame status!) aka Candace Silvasy the founder of Spa4Diabetes.”
As you might imagine, I’m a very lucky girl to live with M’mselle – since she is pretty much a beauty hound (no offense to the pups) and health junkie – she passes all of her tips and tricks on to me. I like to hang out with her in the morning while she paints her face with all types of creams and colors. (She thinks I’m being sweet, but really I’m trying to steal her secrets, ha!)
She also is a big sucker since I’m her first cat, and she takes me with her even to the cafe or vacations whenever we can. Our last trip was to Hilton Head where I made friends with an alligator!
Fighting Feline Diabetes
But though you may think all we do is live it up around here, we’ve actually got an important message for all you cool cats (and humans) out there. A very serious disease can happen to you when you don’t eat right, move too little and get stressed out. It’s called diabetes and yes though you may think it only affects humans – it can and does happen to us . . . approximately 60% and rising everyday.
So since mademoiselle is so busy with the human diabetes fight – I’ve volunteered a few hours of napping to rile cats and people up to help find a cure and prevent feline diabetes. I’ve got some scientific articles and research coming soon. But for now, I’ve got a plan. . .
The Ellen Show Project
Mademoiselle has decided a great way to let our humans know we may be headed for diabetes and to teach them some ways to prevent it is getting me on that big black moving picture frame on the wall. I watch it enough I figure so why not? The only thing is it’s supposedly like impossible to get attention unless you’re Morris the Cat or that scoundrel Mickey Mouse. But hey if a mouse can score some airwaves, then so can I.
So listen close team this where you come in. We’re asking every cat and human we know to tweet at The Ellen Show on twitter to put me on. I promise to give you a great big Meow Out when we get on the show. All you have to do is tweet just like this:
@theellenshow shout out @spacat on air to raise diabetes awareness in pets. 60% of cats get it, it’s rising & can often be prevented.
